Leon's first summer holiday - the Limburg leg:

There are far too many pictures for one post and this way I get to keep some semblance of order. Well here goes.

We drove down to Dover in good time, especially considering there were signs saying the M20 was blocked due to an accident so we aimed for the M2, missed the turning went down to the M26 only to find you can't get on from the M25, back up and on a very fast very quiet M20 - all the traffic had headed for the A20 to avoid the warning area on the signs. It was all ok and we got to queue up, have a coffee and wait to board the ferry. Leon had a great time in the 'little buggers' sorry I mean 'Little Nippers' bit. He crawled around narrowly missing fast moving children and negotiating the legs of other parents there trying in vain to read their books and watch their children.

The journey from Dunkerque to Limburg took much longer than we expected and having docked at about 4pm local time it was almost 10pm when we got to the campsite. Leon went to sleep in his travel cot very late after showing no signs of being tired. We sat up and drank some beer with Erik and Jose before getting a reasonably good night's sleep with only a couple of little feeds for Leon.

We had a lovely breakfast out side on the campsite - we were on a terrace of camping bits all on a big hill. It was very organised there, with lots of healthy looking Europeans cycling around looking like they were enjoying their outdoorsy holiday. Definitely a good way to relax, especially with kids - there were loads of ways to keep kids occupied there.

After breakfast we went for a walk (see photos) it's lovely round there, rolling hills, pastoral views and we couldn't have asked for nicer weather. After the walk we went for a pancake - well what else does one do for traditional food in the low countries? It was very nice, Leon was very well behaved, first having a snooze in a busy restaurant which in itself is one the wonders of being a baby.

The weather then closed in on us and after a windless sunny day we had a very windy, rainy night. The Caravan stood up to it well but Erik and Jose were sleeping in the tent bit that attaches like a front room to the caravan and it was pretty noisy for them. The sun came out again the following morning and after a long breakfast we headed north and left them to enjoy the rest of their holiday.
